Update Category Blocks Icon in Settings

Update Font Icons in Category Blocks

Follow these steps to update the Font Awesome icons displayed in your category blocks.
  • Open Theme Settings > In your Zendesk Guide, navigate to Guide Admin > Customize Design and open your published or draft theme
  • Go to the categories option > Update the category ID and icon
  • Save

How to find Category ID

  • Open your Help Center in a web browser
  • Navigate to the category you want to edit
  • Look at the URL in your browser’s address bar
  • The number immediately after /categories/ is the Category ID
  • Example: https://yourcompany.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001234567-Getting-Started
    • In this example: Category ID: 360001234567

How to Update Font Awesome icons in Category Blocks

  • Visit the Font Awesome website and browse the available icons
  • Select the icon you want to use
  • Copy the icon’s class name (for example, fa-solid fa-book, fa-regular fa-headset, or fa-solid fa-comments)
  • In your Zendesk theme settings, locate the Category block Icon input field
  • Paste the icon class name into the corresponding input field
